Tastemakers and Trendsetters of Chianti

Who’s Who of Wine, Cheese and Restaurants

We begin this full day with a visit to one of the best cheese makers in Tuscany, renowned for fresh sheep’s milk cheese which are made only seasonally. Depending on the time of year we may taste fresh or aged cheeses including everything from sheep’s milk mozzarella to classic pecorino to a soft-ripened “mistake” so great that it became the farm’s flagship. This family-owned farm also produces olive oil and 3 different Chianti wines including a refreshing Rosé, Chianti and Chianti Riserva. We will taste them all.

After our late “breakfast” we will head into the heart of Chianti, passing Antinori’s flagship winery, famous for its stunning architecture, built into the vineyards themselves, before we stop to take pictures at a famous medieval abbey where Galileo once taught. Our next tour and tasting is at an award winning custom-built winery who has made a name for itself breaking from local tradition and pursuing personal passion – to great result.

You might want to pick up a bottle to bring with you as our next stop is lunch at the world famous Dario Cecchini, so called “Butcher of Panzano.” After lunch, and a small taste of grappa, you will have some free time to explore the the ancient hill top village before returning to Firenze, full.
